Tomorrow is Anzac Day! 🍪

As everyone in Australia knows, tomorrow is one of the most important days for Australians 🇦🇺, if not the most. The reason why it is the commemoration of ANZAC DAY, and we imagine that many will be wondering:

What is ANZAC DAY? 👀

We invite you to know its meaning:

ANZAC DAY is a public holiday that is celebrated in Australia and New Zealand on April 25th of each year, is the commemoration of the battle of Galipoli (Turkey), in which dozens of soldiers, soldiers of ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) and the United Kingdom lost their lives in World War I.

It is considered one of Australia's most important national commemorations 🇦🇺, being the anniversary of the first major military intervention in a war with its own army. The commemoration of ANZAC day is one of the only worldwide holiday where two sovereign nations are united by a commemorative event named after both countries (Australia and New Zealand).

How is this celebrated? 💡

This commemoration day is celebrated in two ways:

  • The first is with the so-called Dawn Service, where a memorial service is held at the exact time the first military landing was made (4:30 AM).

This military ceremony takes place in almost all the war memorials in Australia. Those who attend pay tribute to the military who were part of this event; all monuments are open to the public. The more meaningful ceremonies incorporate certain rituals, such as hymns, readings, floral offerings, and shootings of blank rifles.

* If you want to participate in the Dawn Service or any of the other ANZAC activities, here you can check the places of the celebrations in the different cities of Australia.

  • The second celebration takes place later in the day and is a military parade. Military who served, have served or are serving in the army are part of the parade taking the streets of some of the Australian cities.
